On January 17, 1994, at 4:30 a.m., Michael was sleeping in his bed approximately 15 miles from the epicenter of what would become one of the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history - the 6.7 magnitude Northridge, California Earthquake which caused 72 deaths and over 9,000 injuries. In the pitch blackness as Michael kicked down the door to what was left of the bedroom where his two year old girl was trapped in the rubble, he gained a unique insight into the need for quality equipment, and for having the right dependable tool at the right time.
Tactical Edge “knives, flashlights, and gear” is a retail store founded by Michael and his wife Sandy, in order to provide high quality tools designed and suitable for use in military, law enforcement, or other “tactical” applications to the general public - to help you get your mission accomplished.
Store inventory includes innovative products largely unknown to the general public at the present time, as well as products from established and well-known manufactures. Along with knives and flashlights, Tactical Edge carries multi-tools, gear bags, gadgets, and many other accessories which are of sufficient quality to be used by professionals but are also of great interest to anyone who is seeking the best gear for their personal use outdoors, for personal protection, or for emergency preparedness applications.
Along with a passion for flashlights, Michael has developed an expertise in the latest developments in lighting technology, has been asked to represent manufacturers at trade shows and has made presentations regarding emergency preparedness. In addition to his knowledge of flashlight technology, he is an Eagle Scout, outdoor enthusiast, working pyrotechnician, and has an extensive knowledge of knives and other equipment which would be used in “tactical” situations. Presently he is dedicated full time to Tactical Edge - managing the store, handling product sales and acquisitions, directing the day-to-day operations, dealing with customers and clients, and running the general affairs of the business.
Sandy is also a working pyrotechnician, has over 12 years experience as a theater technician, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and has over 10 years of experience organizing and directing numerous offices in various business. Sandy is using her skills and experience to handle the book keeping and accounting aspects of the business, as well as consulting on other aspects as needed.
